Bearded iris flowers in yellow and pink and my fun bees.
This is how it goes sometimes. I start out with an idea a place, a scene in my head and then I begin my painting.
Most of the time I sketch out what I see in my minds eye. The tree is over there, the time of day suggests the light. Is it dawn, is it sunset, is it foggy and so on. Are there animals in the scene? Where are they?
Are there people, most of the time not. Not in my paintings. I like to be the invisible observer of places when there is nobody there. At least not in visible form, in spirit we are all everywhere at all times. Everything and everybody is connected.
That old saying “If a tree falls in the forest and there is nobody there to hear it, does it make a sound”? comes to mind.
So in my paintings of the wetlands, the Okefenokee, the Florida Suwanee river, Savannah Bird Girl, the trees you will almost always find life, just not physical people.
In my latest piece I was inspired by the “Pink April Moon”. In case you missed it. Yes the moon was pink this past April 11th, 2017
This full moon was furthest from the earth and the moon was in Libra. The pink moon also called Strawberry moon and a few other names, but I like Pink Moon and Strawberry Moon, it congers up positive feelings and even sweet tastes.
So in my “Garden of Good and Evil” the good prevails with the power of the pink moon radiating throughout the my painting.
The “Bird Girl” of Savannah a steadfast witness holding her bowls of seeds for the birds, this time most of them, were eaten by the songbirds.

The latest in my Classic Hollywood Series I started this series a long time ago and sold most back then. I have a couple of larger ones still stored away. I am now continuing the series.
It’s nice to have a change of pace sometimes and explore a different subject matter. But I do love old movies. I grew up on black and while thrillers and Love stories. I’ve been re-watching my favorites. These days you can see so many of them for free on YouTube. Not the best quality. But Netflix and Amazon prime have many. The best ones are still available on DVD’s or for rent.
Whatever it is about these movies and actors there is a certain mystery I guess. The black and white made for a different experience where light became a big player in creating drama, atmosphere and suspense. There were no “special effects” and not even color. Many of these actors came straight from the silent movies, where there wasn’t even sound. So there was a huge emphasis on facial expression and body language. I think that is where these movies and actors really shined. Especially Joan Crawford, watch her in “Sudden Fear” her eyes and her face just great.
Well I painted the one and only among others “Joan Crawford” the love to hate persona, but boy she was a great actress and nobody is all bad. She did have a good heart. I was surprised to read she was only 5 foot 3 inches tall.
