Milk Thistles and Bees

Ginette Painting Milk Thistle and Bees Watercolor and Ink

Milk Thistles and Bees – Medicinal Plants

12 inches by 9 inches Watercolor & Ink on Watercolor Paper
Frame and Mat not included.

Medicinal plants is something I have been studying and have a great interest in my whole life. This was instilled in me by my grandmother. Healing plants are all over the world, most people just don’t realize it. So I never refer to them as weeds.

The medicinal power of Milk Thistle is proven. I also think it is a very beautiful plant and it attracts bees.

I find it sad that many large wild meadows disappear, so I was happy to see a nearby community called Serenbe Georgia, creating and preserving natural places. On my next trip I will have to explore the wildflower meadow and linger there for a while.

You can also see a video of this with me talking about art and this particular herb.

How I create my watercolor & ink paintings: “I first do most of the ink work. I do not pre draw anything. I go straight to work with various nib sizes and dipping ink. The objective is to be loose and painterly. After establishing the ink lines I use watercolor to create shadow and light and vibrant colors, I work in layers. There is no erasing whatsoever, so everything even inks droplets that may fall are part of the art. Incidentals like ink drops are some of my favorite parts. Finally I add more ink lines to enhance certain areas in the painting. I then sign in ink and voila!”
