Springtime Symphony Texas Landscape Oil On Canvas Wall 2

Springtime Symphony Explore the vibrant beauty of the Texas Hill Country

Greetings art lovers! I am thrilled to introduce you to my latest masterpiece, Springtime Symphony. This vibrant oil painting is a celebration of the lush beauty of the Texas Hill Country. It’s a showcase of a colorful and textured landscape, full of life and energy.

Measuring 30 by 18 inches, Springtime Symphony is a bold creation that captures the essence of spring in all its glory. The focal point of the composition is a majestic tree, ready to bloom. It’s sprawling branches reaching towards a swirling sky. The sky itself is a swirling tapestry of colors, with a radiant sun at its center in hues of yellow, orange, pink, and white.

What sets this artwork apart is the daring use of color and texture, which give the scene a three-dimensional quality that invites the viewer to explore its depths. From the patches of green grass to the myriad of colorful flowers, every element of the painting bursts with vibrant energy.

Inspired by the beauty of the Texas Hill Country, I wanted to challenge the stereotypical idea of Texas nature and showcase its true magnificence. Through bold brushstrokes and a dynamic composition, Springtime Symphony embodies the lush abundance of nature in full bloom.

I invite you to immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of “Springtime Symphony” and let its vibrant colors and energetic composition transport you to a world of beauty and wonder. Don’t miss the chance to experience the magic of the Texas Hill Country in a whole new light.

Fine Art America Artist Feature Yolanda Terrell Impressionism

Fine Art America Artist Feature Yolanda Terrell Impressionism

I am going to feature artists that have their works on Fine Art America and paint Impressionism or post impressionist style.

Fine Art America is a website where artists like myself can make their artworks available as prints on demand. Which means the artwork is printed when it is ordered. This system simplifies the process because the artist does not have to guess what sizes will sell best and invest deeply in getting prints manufactured. My goal here is to feature some of the best of Impressionist and post impressionist painters from Fine Art America.

I decided to do a once a month feature. I am going to curate a collection of 12 artists, who stands out to me guided by the idea of impressionism or post impressionism today. Since I am starting with April, sometimes I am going to feature more than one artist.  So without further ramblings, I want to kick off my feature for April 2022 with Yolanda Terrell.

As soon as I saw her piece" The bouquet" my curiosity was aroused and I browsed her work. She is in my opinion one of Fine Art America more intriguing impressionist/post-impressionist painters she reminds me a bit of Vincent Van Gogh whom I adore.

Her work has vibrant colors and her eye for color composition is excellent. I love how she does her figures, the elongated arms like in this painting below, it adds such charm and uniqueness. She connect colors, lines, shapes with patterns and tells a story at the same time. Just wonderful! I think Yolanda Terrell is one of Fine Art America finest impressionists. But there are many and I will features someone new every month of the year. So please come back and make sure you subscribe so you won't miss my picks.

Impressionist Savannah Bird Girl Oil Painting
Title: Lunar Eclipse in the Garden of Good & Evil Size 30 by 40 Inches or (76.20 by 101.60 cm)

Impressionist Savannah Bird Girl is a truly amazing original painting. Please see the detail close up images I am including here. My palette is complex, the brushwork consisted of thousands of strokes, done with palette knife and brushes. Everything in this painting is luxurious and lush painted on fine Belgium linen.

My fascination with the Savannah Bird Girl began with the movie “Midnight In The Garden of Good & Evil” I watched maybe 20 or so years ago.

John Berendt is the author of the famous Novel after which the movie was made, the Character John Kelso was based on him and was played by John Cusack.
I’ve visited Savannah many times since coming to the US, and it’s true, it is really a place where time stands still compared to the rest of the country.  That is part of what makes it all so surreal and unique.

I give you a link where You can read more…

Freedom Fighters at the Cafe Guerbois Paris

Freedom Fighters at the Cafe Guerbois Paris

Liberation of art and artists began with the Freedom Fighters at the Cafe Guerbois in Paris the impressionists and Post impressionists.

Impressionism or the impressionist movement started in the 1860th and really only lasted about 40 years.
Today we often describe a style of painting as Impressionism but most of it is not even close.
Impressionism was more than just a style of painting it was a revolution.

Up until then the artworld was controlled  by establishment. Most of the contemporary art action took place in Paris. Customer demands had to be met. Galleries had to meet buyers expectations. It really is still like that today. All these dynamics are way too complicated for me to figure out.

Manet, Monet, Van Gogh, Cezanne and others, went out on a limb, some most certainly became a starving artist. Some got by, being supported by relatives like Van Gogh by his Brother Theo. Others compromised and delivered “acceptable” art to the Salon to sell. Did you ever hear of the “The Salon des Refusés, the art show of the rejected? Yep, it was the response by the impressionists to the Salon who regularly rejected their submissions. They created their own art show.
Imagine that, today these paintings demand millions of dollars. While the artist that painted them often lived impoverished.

Those freedom fighters were true rebels, ridiculed and laughed at even. Many of  them regularly met at the Cafe Guerbois Paris, the leader of the pack was Eduard Manet, who by the way also used black in his work. So there goes the “don’t use black” in impressionism. Some argue Manet wasn’t a true impressionists. Ce la vie!
There at the cafe they talked and argued about everything under the sun. In true French fashion with passion!

They wanted to liberate art and they did. The art of Art is an elusive pursuit. With each blank canvas or paper the possibilities are endless.

In the question of “what is art” I agree with Leo Tolstoy. I read his essay and came away with the thought that art is a form of communication.
Telling a story, celebrating something in a way of art.

I am going to put a link here to the essay
https://web.csulb.edu/~jvancamp/361r14.html

and here is a link to a site that takes you on a tour of Montmartre and the impressionists. This is a very cool page check it out.

This café was the meeting spot the “Batignolles group”, led by Edouard Manet.

Here is a watercolor and ink I did in response to the shooting at Charlie Hebdo On 7 January 2015 and the unity march that followed.
