Positano Summer Italy Original Watercolor Paintings Amalfi Coast

Summer Vibrations Positano Amalfi Coast. This is an original watercolor painting.

I have never visited Amalfi but one day I will. I will travel the Amalfi Coast and see all these amazing sites. Experience the culture that I love. The Italian culture filled with vibrancy, passion, joy of living. Not looking into a devise, disengaged with whoever sits at the table with me, but gaze into eyes, watch the blue sea with her dancing glistening lights. Allow my minds to absorb the vibration of summer. One day I will do all that. Buy my art and I will get closer to this dream. In my heart I feel I have been there, maybe in another life, maybe in my astral travels. I paint my dreams.

Some factoids about Positano Italy

Positano is a cliff side village on southern Italy’s Amalfi Coast. It’s a well-known holiday destination with a pebble beachfront and steep, narrow streets lined with boutiques and cafes. Its Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta features a majolica-tiled dome and a 13th-century Byzantine icon of the Virgin Mary. The Sentiero degli Dei hiking trail links Positano to other coastal towns. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Positano

Impressionist Oil Painting Monarch Butterflies and Chamomile Flowers

Inspired by Monet Monarch Butterflies

I have always been Inspired by Monet and Vincent van Gogh. Check out the close up images of this painting.

I prepared the canvas with a mixture of marble dust and gesso that I move around to created a stucco like texture. After that is totally dry I painted in oil.

Here are two videos. I did not tape everything I just don't have the time to do that. But it gives you a good idea of my oil painting style. I like the impressionist approach, but I do have my own unique style. I'm not trying to totally emulate that wonderful impressionist era but rather be inspired by it.

I had painted a large acrylic a while back just with that motive. Bunches of butterflies and a field of chamomile and assorted flowers. The painting is very popular as print.

I decided to paint it also in oil.

The painting is finished now. you can buy it from my website ginettecallaway.com

Georgia Summer can be a heatstroke in the making.

About two weeks ago I was rudely reminded why I really don’t like to live in a hot climate (unless it’s right by the ocean of course)

My air-conditioner about 28 years old started to not cool and freeze up all the time. Eventually air conditioning man put some more coolant in it, no dice. Still not cooling. Air condition man comes back after a few phone calls and puts in more coolant, plus unit cleaning. Still not cooling.

So far I paid 800 dollars and still have no air conditioning. It puffs out lukewarm air. So now the verdict is “Need a new Unit” will cost around 5 grand. Just about now I want to crawl in to a hole. Make it a cave a real cool one. I miss the ‪temperate ‪‎German ‪‎summers that I remember.

‪‎Brick ‪‎houses make for cooler dwellings too. Most houses in ‪‎Germany are brick, cooler. ‪‎Grandma used to close the ‪‎shutters when it was hotter. No shutters on my rickety house, so the afternoon sun bakes the house.

Someone told me the weather in ‪‎Berkeley‪ ‎California is like that in Germany, mostly, temperate. But ‪‎Blairsville‪ Ga is about 10 degrees cooler than the rest of ‪‎Georgia too. Maybe I have to escape in to the mountains in summer, cats in tow.

But don’t they say the grass is always greener on the other side. I keep reminding myself of that, while looking forward to this huge cost that wasn’t in my budget. I hate Georgia Summers. Yesterday we had 106 degrees the next two weeks will be cooler “ONLY IN THE MID NINETIES” My house is an oven. Ice packs tied to my body have become my best friends.

Have I mentioned I ‪‎hate Georgia Summers. I think I have.

If you haven’t seen my latest original paintings I hope you will take a look at them, any purchase will help me pay for this new expense. You’re helping a self-supporting artist.
