John Singer Sargent How did he paint? I have to admit I always amazed at artists that have the ability to paint portraits. John Singer Sargent is one of them. While his portraits are realistic after closer inspection I see brushstrokes and lose movements of these strokes.
A light hand and a certain careful making of strokes, not fussy but such great skill. Here I want to give you two videos that how how John Singer Sargent painted.
His palette even included black, which was not used by impressionists but he used it. I know Manet used black as well. I do too.
If you are a painter of portraits but really of any subject, these videos will be very helpful.
