Painted with brush and palette knife in many dark tones where the highlights are the lily pads and blue water reflections.
Since I am living in the southern eastern part of the US, I get to see lily pads a lot. There is plenty of wetlands and plenty of water. Lily pads are a fixture in ponds, still waters in the Okefenokee where the water is black from the tannins, the decaying vegetation creates.
There the textures of lily pads, duckweed and other water loving plants make it every impressionist inspired painters dream.
