Painting Vernazza in colors of the Italian Riviera

Painting Vernazza in colors of the Italian Riviera. An original watercolors and ink painting.
Peaceful, colorful yet vibrant and lively, this is Vernazza. Italy has so much to offer. This is why I love Italy.

When I think of Vernazza in Italy I know of course it is part of the Cinque Terre. The five villages that are the "cinque" five "terre" earth are Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore.  The region is a UNESCO world heritage national park. It is a part of the Italian Riviera in the region of Liguria. A rugged coastline like no other, where villages are build into the rocks as if by magic. There is color everywhere, no brown house syndrome here.

So when I for whatever reason have a bad day or week, I escape with my brush and ink pens into my room where I paint. I escape and find myself hearing the sounds of Vernazza, the smell of the salt sea air and the rushing of the turquoise waves. I hear the clanging kitchen activity, pots, pans and silverware, emanating from the back of this small restaurant where I chose to eat a bite. For some reason a place like this does not make me feel hungry a lot. Everything is light, airy and happy. That is why it is one of my favorites places to escape to , even if only in my minds eye. This is my therapy! I hope you love this painting and make this purchase. It is an original one of a kind. I am particularly happy with the free ink lines and loose watercolor brush work. The colors are rich just like in the photos.
