Cornflowers Provence Impressionist Oil Painting
Cornflowers are an integrate part of my consciousness. It is one of those flowers that captured my imagination. They grow widely among fields of wheat in Provence and Alsace where I was born and spend many of my early childhood. They flourish side by side with poppies and other wildflowers.
Cornflowers show off with a brilliant blue and spiky blossoms. I love them. This painting naturally is dominated by a gorgeous cornflower blue. A curious dragonfly makes a quick appearance. You can see dabs of yellow and touches of muted lavender. The brushstrokes are intense, bold and descriptive.
