Description

The eastern black indigo snake is a non venomous snake. Painted in oil with brush and knife. This piece is unusual but would be a great gift for a nature lover.

Here is what Wiki says: “The eastern indigo snake is a species of large nonvenomous snake in the family Colubridae. The species is native to the Eastern United States. It is of note as being the longest native snake species in the U.S.”

I Included close up details of the painting, please look at them. It’s a great painting if you like snakes. I think snakes often get a bad wrap but in reality they are a very important part of nature and without them we would quickly find out, how important they are in rodent control for example.

The most in incredible service our black indigo Snake provides is the fact that she eats rattle snakes. It’s one of her favorite meals. More non venomous Black Indigo’s means less venomous rattle snakes. Yes in a confrontation the non venomous Indigo Snake will most definitely win. Here is a short video where you can see exactly how she does it.

The Eastern Indigo Snake is a wonderful animal. The eastern indigo snake is a large, black, non venomous snake found in the southeastern U.S. It is widely distributed throughout central and South Florida, but primarily occurs in sand hill habitats in northern Florida and southern Georgia. The eastern indigo snake was listed as a threatened species as a result of dramatic population declines caused by over-collecting for the domestic and international pet trade as well as moralities caused by rattlesnake collectors who gassed gopher tortoise burrows to collect snakes. Since its listing, habitat loss and fragmentation by residential and commercial expansion have become much more significant threats to the eastern indigo
