One of many Still Life Oil painting – Heirloom Roses The Impressionists – Oil Painting this painting is a classic.

As with most of my still life paintings, I use flowers I buy or grow as well as objects and vases I own. Here I used a lovely silver plate vase that is very ornamental and I placed a few heirloom roses in it. They are called The impressionists. They used to do very well, had the most gorgeous peach to orange color lacy blooms, but in the last two years the climate has changed and they have given up on me.

My palette for this is peach and soft orange tones, some neutrals, and purples and greens. Painted with a brush and palette knife as you can see in the detail image. The painting is not framed. it is on Russian linen which if gorgeous and high quality. All my oil paintings are varnished.
