Georgia Okefenokee Blue Heron and Lotus Impressionism

Description

This is the idealized habitat for blue heron and lotus, it is a lush almost undisturbed “land 
of trembling earth”

I used brushes and palette knife to create thick patches of paint as well as texture and rich hues. The blues Heron dominates the painting. He or she effortless glides over the Lotus Flowers. Over the years I have modeled my technique after those impressionist and post impressionist artists, I admire most. namely, Vincent Van Gogh from whom I draw my connection to vibrant bold colors and interesting brush work, Nikolai Fechin who I admire for his palette knife technique and brilliance in edging out the essentials in his subject, something I am still far from. I paint in my way learning with each piece. Even after three decades I am still learning.

An impression of the rich colorful natural beauty of the Georgia Okefenokee wetland wilderness. Raw and untamed but in my painting innocent and soft brimming with color. Blue Herons grace the skies, nature’s sounds are music to the ears.
