Description
I know everyone paints red poppies these days. It's a thing. Maybe because they are very popular and sell well. This painting of mine wants to make a statement in the vein of traditional post impressionist style. I think these are red poppies as Vincent van Gogh would paint them. What do you think?
If you look at the close up images you can see the brushstrokes. I used bristles brushes and palette knife for this. varied direction create movement and as always let the colors of Provence sing.
I can hear Vincent's voice, through the veil of time, a man in a straw hat, standing only feet away, when I painted this, approving and smiling.
OK sounds a bit loopy? Well in my world of painting and creating, I let my imagination fly, all the way over to my country of birth, France. Indulging in memories and visions of tall grass, dotted with red poppies and cornflowers. Slices of my early childhood, I prefer to remember. Even Vincent Van Gogh walks into the picture, that I have in my head.
I celebrate them, Vincent, Fechin, Monet, Chagall, Cezanne, and others, with my art, as if they were my friends. A world more colorful then the real, innocent and whimsical, the way I like it.
