Texas Sky Landscape On My Way To Amarillo

Painted in February 2024. I have been bitten by the Texas bug again. So don’t be surprised to see a few new oil and  or watercolor paintings from this great state where you can find desert, mountains, plains and yes even hills.

Paintings in oil and watercolors of the great State of Texas. It’s the first State I set foot on when I arrived in the US over 30 years ago with my Husband. He’s a veteran and had received his orders to return to the States from Germany. His family is spread all over Texas and that is were I first got a taste of American Culture. After that visit we travelled north to Niagara falls and then to Indiana eventually to Atlanta were we still live. I hope to return some day to Texas at least to see more of it. The HEAT is something, however Georgia is not much cooler.

In this painting I give you a typical west Texas panorama on a small  canvas. This will fit into almost any space  and is affordable for anyone who appreciates REAL ORIGINAL ART that comes from honest heartfelt inspiration. I always listen to my heart. Devine inspiration is present when I must paint something, I just have to. For some reason I have the overwhelming urge to paint Texas, including this painting. When I first came to the US I set foot on Texas, we switches from a huge passenger plane to a puddle jumper to take us closer to our destination. Then after a long drive, from east Texas to West Texas where my Husbands family lived I got to see the many oil pumping arms sitting there like giant insects accentuated by the smell of oil & skunk. I just left Germany and a few hours later my feet and my nose said, “hold up” did we  just land on Mars? Where are the trees? It’s true to say it was a culture shock. I am so used to trees, now I see flatness and seemingly arid conditions tumble weed that I only new from watching old westerns which I love. Here it was tumbling across the street right in front of my eyes. Someone told me not to just “walk through the brush off the side of the road “cause rattlers my hide there” OKayyyyyyyyyy! Making a long story short, you may describe me as a survivor, a renegade adventurer & a sponge and needless to say, the new culture grew on me over time. Now I find the Texas, I mean the real Country culture incredibly appealing to my freedom loving personality. So G-D guided my hand back to this country called Texas to paint and  put my love  into it. If I had to  pick a country music artist most representing my heartfelt feelings for Texas it would be “George Strait”, the song “Amarillo by Morning” was probably the first song I heard in this new land while being swirled around by my husband on one of the hugest dance floors I have ever seen. Well enough now but I may tell you more about my time in Texas some day.
