Whimsical Watercolor and Ink
The way I look at wildflowers is that they are beautiful just as they are, they hold secrets, they are survivors and they are unpretentious.

Summer in Provence. Sweeping Lavender Fields and a small charming french town. Painted in oil with lush texture and the colors of Provence.
This painting has the most incredible texture. Check it out.
I painted this in April 2016. It’s a 24 by 26 inch oil painting. Check out the close up images.I prepared the canvas with a mixture of marble dust and gesso that i move around to created a stucco like texture. After that is totally dry I painted in oil. Here are two videos. I did not tape everything I just don’t have the time to do that. But it gives you a good idea of my oil painting style. I like the impressionist approach, but I do have my own unique style. I’m not trying to totally emulate that wonderful impressionist era but rather be inspired by it.
I had painted a large acrylic a while back just with that motive. Bunches of butterflies and a field of chamomile and assorted flowers. The painting is very popular as print.
I decided to paint it also in oil.
The painting is finished now. you can buy it from my website ginettecallaway.com

Would you believe that I painted this just with QTips?
You may say: “Why would you do that?” Well it was simply an idea of seeing if it could be done. I started out using QTips for rough sketching and laying in shapes. I stood back and thought, let’s see if I can finish a whole painting with nothing but these QTips. I ended up painting three pieces just with QTips. This Poppy painting was the last one.
