Description

The name for this Green Wood Pecker in French is “Pic poignardé” in Latin “Xiphidiopicus percussus”. This is such a pretty bird, I had to paint her/him because it allowed me to use some of my greener paints like the absinth Green and Anise Green from Charvin and Cadmium Green from Williamsburg. 

I think the painting has a stunning palette with the green set opposed to the orange tones and reds. My palette knife oil painting technique is providing exceptional texture however it never comes across the computer monitor as amazing and textural as it is in person.
